India, 2011 |
I’m Alison.
Born in San Francisco,
CA. Raised in Tiburon, CA. Live in Washington, DC. Moving to Dallas, TX.
American with a
little Irish/Welsh/German/French thrown in for good measure. Both sides of my
family have an ancestor that came over on the Mayflower. Yes, that American.
I have a big heart.
Quick to love, quick to get hurt, quick to say Yes when I really mean No.
My mind is sometimes
way too big for my body. It traps me inside daydreams and refuses to let me go.
I was a vegetarian
for two years, but loved meat too much. BBQ girl for life.
Studying documentary filmmaking
in India my fall semester junior year was one of the best decisions I’ve ever
made. Learned so much about what it means to really live – embrace adventure,
strengthen your backbone, keep going forward.
Road trips are my
favorite.
Being outside can get
rid of any bad mood.
When I get excited I
start bouncing and all of my sentencesslurtogethersonoonecanunderstandme.
My friends and family
often have to tell me to slowwwww down.
My older sister is three years older and my foundation.
Sometimes I take naps
in random places, I get it from my dad. I have a special fond spot for patches
of grass with the sun shining down on me.
FEARS: Indoor malls,
treadmills, the dark, failing
God really confuses
me sometimes. Sometimes I feel Him with me, feel His hands guiding me certain
ways, feel His forgiveness washing away my sins. But then other times I
don't feel Him at all, I feel utterly alone, and that He is too far away to
come back.
I have a ways to go
with my faith, but I’m trying.
I can't offer you perfect
pictures, airbrushed faces, smiling eyes that don't sometimes shed tears.
What I can offer you
is stories (usually incoherent), but truthful.
And pictures (usually
poorly taken), but real.
And dreams and fears.
That are all mine.
This is me.
